PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise): PACE is a chair-based exercise class that allows older adults of all abilities the opportunity to exercise. Each class incorporates simple standing movements along with total body chair exercises that focus on body range of motion, body-weight strength training, general conditioning, balance and proprioceptive movement. PACE is a good introductory class for the non-exerciser and a good movement-based class for those more experienced.
Exercise Intensity Level: Low

Circuit of Life: Circuit of Life is a circuit training class for the older adult. Each circuit class incorporates strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, balance and flexibility training. The class consists of 10 exercises for 2 rounds with exercises lasting generally 30 seconds each. A number of functional exercises are performed for a specified amount of time with rest times built in. The unique aspect of the class is that you control how hard you want to work. If you are looking for a fast paced and fun exercise class, Circuit of Life is for you!
Exercise Intensity Level: Moderate to High

Everyday Strength: Everyday Strength is a moderate intensity class that uses resistance bands and also body weight exercises to focus on improving functional upper and lower body strength and power, cardiovascular endurance, balance and flexibility. This class fits in nicely between PACE and Circuit of Life. This is a great class for those looking to engage in strength training but prefer the dynamics of an exercise class.
Exercise Intensity Level: Moderate to High

TRX Total Body Training: This class utilizes TRX Suspension Trainers to work through body weight movements that improve strength, power, endurance, balance and core stability. TRX Suspension Trainers allow for a unique challenge for participants due to the ability to increase or decrease the difficulty by simply changing your body angle. TRX Total Body Training is a 5 week “rotating” class limited to 5 participants each cycle. Residents can sign up in the Fitness Center.
Exercise Intensity Level: Moderate to High

Rock Steady Boxing at Bethany Village: Rock Steady Boxing is an exercise program for those who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. A mixture of boxing, strength, cardiovascular, functional and flexibility training are used to allow participants to fight back against the symptoms of Parkinson’s. Bethany Village offers two different levels of classes depending on the stage of the disease and physical capabilities of the participant. This program is only for individuals with a clinical diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease.
Exercise Intensity Level: Low to High

Wii Bowling: Members of the Fitness Center have the opportunity to utilize the Wii gaming system to work on coordination of movement and general body movement. While not a traditional exercise class, members can ask to have the game system turned on during open hours. There is also a Wii Bowling group that meets regularly and more information can be provided for that.

Rise and Shine: Rise and Shine is a light, chair based exercise class done in Crescent Crossing that is meant to empower residents who are new to exercise or have medical challenges but still want to stay active. Simple, yet effective chair exercises are performed to increase total body strength and flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and stability.
Exercise Intensity Level: Low

Fit Beat: is a seated or standing drumming class that focuses on rhythm, coordination and cardiovascular endurance accompanied by music. Bethany Village’s resident Music Therapist teaches the class. Fit Beat is an excellent way to stay active for those that enjoy music and are looking for an alternative to “traditional” exercise classes.

Chair Yoga: is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Vista Place Lounge. The class is a chair based gentle yoga class open to all Independent Residents. Participants perform a variety of yoga movements in a chair to work on flexibility, muscle control, endurance and breathing techniques.
Exercise Intensity Level: Low
