As your loved ones age, you might start to consider assisted living communities like Bethany Village to help them live their best lives. When you begin the planning process, it’s a good idea to ask a variety of questions so you can get an idea of what to expect in the community.
Bethany Village is a 100-acre continuing care retirement community located in Centerville, near Dayton, Ohio. We offer several living options in our community, including assisted living. What is an Assisted Living Community?
Assisted living is a type of senior living that provides personal care and additional assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) in a community. ADLs include bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, bathroom use, mobility, and medication management.
Bethany Village provides the perfect balance between care and support while maintaining your loved one’s independence. They will receive the assistance they need while having the opportunity to enjoy all of our community’s amenities, activities, and events.
Questions to Ask When Visiting Bethany Village
When visiting any senior living community, you’ll have many details and questions roll through your mind. The staff at Bethany Village strives to answer questions before you think of them, but here are some questions you should consider during a visit.
How Do You Know What Level of Care Is Needed?
It’s common for families to need clarification about what level of care their family member needs.
At Bethany Village, we perform an initial assessment to determine the level of care that’s most appropriate for your loved one. After the initial assessment is completed, additional assessments will take place annually or on an as-needed basis.
Our skilled staff is trained to detect changes in your loved one to keep them in the right level of care for a high quality of life.
What Safety Measures Do You Have in Place?
Safety is a top priority when choosing a senior living community. Ask about the safety measures, such as emergency response systems, fire safety protocols, and secure entrances and exits.
At Bethany Village, we have nurses and social workers on-call 24/7 in our community. We always ensure that your loved ones are safe and taken care of when living in our community.
Residents have staff call buttons and pull chords in their apartments to request assistance from staff members. Residents also have access to SARA pendants, which are used as personal emergency response systems to alert staff members.
What Are the Dining Options?
Bethany Village has a range of dining options to satisfy food lovers and those who like options. Our menus can accommodate dietary restrictions and provide various meal options curated by a dietician to help your loved one achieve a nutritious, balanced diet.
The dining spaces are a perfect place to meet neighbors and make friends in the community.
What Floor Plans Are Available?
At Bethany Village, we provide our assisted living residents with modern and spacious apartments to enjoy. Apartments include 1 large bedroom for singles or couples, easy access showers, comfortable living rooms, and a kitchenette and dining area to enjoy meals.
We offer 2 floor plans for assisted living residents: the crescent suite and the standard suite. Each suite includes a bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closet, living room, dining area, and kitchenette, but the amount of space is different.
The crescent suite has 633 square feet of living space, whereas the standard suite has 600 square feet of living space.
If you or a loved one are curious about our assisted living apartment floor plans, request a floor plan through our form, or contact the team at Bethany Village for more information.
Are There Rules for Furnishing & Decorating Apartments?
Sometimes, older family members are reluctant to move, but creating a space that feels like home can make the transition easier.
All apartments are unfurnished, so you can decorate your loved one’s suite with furniture, photos, and personal items. If they have more oversized items or a television to mount on the wall, you’ll need the assistance of Bethany Village’s maintenance team.
Bethany Village provides some necessities, including:
- Shower curtains, rods, and curtain rings
- Blinds for windows
- Twin mattress
- Microwave and a small refrigerator
If a shower seat or toilet riser is needed, residents can request either of these items, which will be charged to their resident account.
