Springtime Activities for Seniors in Dayton

Schedule a Visit

springtime activities for seniorsAs the flowers come up and the trees begin to bloom, we turn our thoughts to getting out and about Dayton to enjoy the warmer weather. But where should you start? Here are six fun activities you can enjoy this spring, from your friends at Bethany Village:

Picnic in the Parks

Picnicking is both tranquil and rejuvenating, and we’re lucky to live in an area with beautiful and varied MetroParks which offer a little something for everyone. To save time and stress, you don’t even have to make the food! Cold chicken and potato salad from the deli at the grocery store is a fast and fuss-free way to enjoy a good meal in the park. Visit metroparks.org to find the park that’s right for you. And don’t forget to bring a blanket.

Participate in a Community Garden

The Five Rivers MetroParks also offer a Community Gardening Program in Montgomery County. Join in on the tomato growing and composting by helping to develop and maintain local community gardens and green projects. The program is always looking for people to join existing gardens or start new ones. Call the MetroParks’ Community Gardening Program at (937) 276-7053. Spend a few hours each week nursing your own green thumb.

Take Yourself Out to the Ball Game

Little League games can be found nearly any day of the week this time of year, and many of them are happening near you. Bring a chair and a beverage and enjoy the game. Contact the Centerville or Kettering Youth Baseball Associations or look at the Midwest Ohio Baseball League website (www.midwestohiobaseball.com) to find a game near you.

Whatever you get up to this spring, we wish you the very best season!
